So, yesterday I was banned from Truth Social for an “egregious” violation of their TOS.
As it turns out, it was all a tragic mistake. Apparently, the system thought I was a bot.
If I were a bot, I’d be one of these:
My Truth Social account is still dead, and may have been completely wiped.
Whether or not it comes back or not, I’ll never really be as confident in Truth Social again. Come on, guys! The platform’s performance directly reflects on President Trump—do better.
Any fool with half a brain could have predicted that “Trump’s social platform” would be Hacker Target #1 (like it was)—why didn’t you anticipate this and test it to failure and beyond before you rolled it out? Did nobody on the team pay attention to the Orca vs Narwhale, Obama vs Romney debacle in 2012 (the tech debacle, not the general disaster that was Mittens RINOey’s campaign in general)? When even those Establishment fossils at National Review recognized the problem—the people involved—shouldn’t that have told you something?
I thought the RNC did a through post-mortem on Mitten’s tech failings after the 2012 Election Day meltdown. Did nobody learn anything from that?
I guess not.
Truth Social sputtered at launch, and for several months thereafter. It’s still sputtering, as my experience shows. Add that to the fact that it HAS to be a prime target for not just Lefty Coast basement-dwelling soy boy code monkeys but also China, Russia, and assorted bored teens across Eastern Europe, and it’s a minor miracle the site has managed as well as it has. Still, Truth has seemed almost cursed from the outset, and that makes me wonder just how viable the platform is going forward.
July 24th may be Truth Social’s ride or die moment. If Digital World Acquisition Corp. doesn’t get its paperwork filed with NASDAQ by then, the planned merger with Trump Media & Technology Group (Truth’s parent company) can’t proceed. That could mean the planned SPAC-based investment strategy intended to bolster Truth’s funding would collapse. The SEC has already been delaying the DWA/TMTG merger with multiple investigations (which are absolutely, totally not political—yeah, right). The estimated $300 million DWA has raised from investors would go a long way towards fixing ANY tech platform’s shortcomings, but only if the merger goes through. Right now, those of us on the outside can only wait to see what will happen.
I don’t claim to be a financier, and I’m certainly not a code monkey. I’m just an old guy with a phone, and iPad and an attitude. I’ve written a little book about turning a campaign slogan into a political movement to restore the Republic, which not nearly enough of you people have bought.
What I did, back in the day, was manage enough complex projects to understand that early on you have to figure out your potential fail points, then make plans to avoid them. In 2012, Obama’s Narwhale team excelled at this while Team Mittens wrote the book on campaign tech fail.
To an outsider and user who signed up for Truth Social very early on, then waited…and waited…and waited…then finally gave up until a few months ago, Truth Social hasn’t done an outstanding job of, well, anything. Now a “glitch” banned me, may have wiped my account, and the whole platform may go bust in a few months. Not inspiring, that.
Could I have done better? I’d like to think so. I’d absolutely have put together a team of evil little nerds to attack what my good little nerds were creating on a regular basis, and given prizes to whoever did their job best. I’d have stoked their nerd honor and provoked their nerd rage until I had a platform that would laugh at China’s and the Lefty Coast’s best efforts—and then I’d have kept them all on staff to actively ‘discourage’ (yeah, let’s go with that) anyone who dared try to hack my platform. *insert malevolent sneer here*
I certainly wouldn’t have announced my launch until I was dammed sure my product could handle it. If the budget wouldn’t allow that, then the only real solution would be to get a bigger budget—or accept a sloppy, substandard product.
I remember the days when vaporware was all the rage all too well. I also know you only get ONE chance to make a first impression. I suspect the Truth Social development team was forced to “make compromises” all along the way, because that’s what I’ve been seeing. If I’ve seen it, so have others, and that’s just sad.
If I get unbanned as promised, I’ll probably use Truth again, but I won’t make it my focus. That just wouldn’t make sense at this point. That’s okay.
GETTR is looking better and better every day, and I’m probably not the only one who’s been thinking that. Or, we could always join RFK Jr. on Nostr!

Don’t bother looking for me on Truth Social—at least for now. If you want to support me, help spread the word about my book Beyond MAGA. Get it, review it, and tell your friends. You might even enjoy reading it, but that’s up to you. Ignore the parts of the book where I mention Truth Social, okay?
I have no clue what truth social is, but if they kicked you out, that means you are certainly a truth teller.
