The 1st Republican Debate is Over!
Thank God for that! Now, which of these bozos will still be around this time next week?
“Oh, thank God, it’s over!”
That seems to be the general consensus about the first Republican debate. Sadly, I didn’t get to binge Foundation like I wanted. I did make an appearance at a local gang-viewing, which was much more pleasant than I had any reason to anticipate it being.
The lousy stream quality of the debate itself was a major factor in the overall quality of my evening. Technical difficulties FTW!
There were the expected crop of RINOs there, especially a baby RINO who adores Mike Pence and thinks George W. Bush was the greatest President since Taft, or something. Yes, I taunted him as he deserved, but sadly he’s as firmly locked into his delusion as the wokist of wokies. Sad, but baring high-dose antipsychotics and electroconvulsive therapy, I’m not sure there’s not much to be done about it.
I did meet some delightful new friends and saw quite a few old ones, so that was nice. The food was good, which always helps. Unfortunately, the techies got the stream fixed WAY too soon, and that damned debate very nearly ruined an otherwise perfectly enjoyable evening.
If you didn’t see it, you’ve been lucky so far—don’t tempt fate. The Detroit Free Press has a decent summary of the highlights here. It’s a better choice time-wise than watching the replay, even at 1.5x speed.
Here are some of my picks:
—Best meme-worthy line—Mike Pence channeling his inner fairy-tale character when he talked about how the President needs to be “not too young, not too old.” So, here’s the meme.
Can we get #Penceilocks to trend tomorrow?
—Biggest Loser—Chris Christie, not because of his weight, but because he got the biggest “boos” all night when he attacked Trump multiple times. Chris, as one Fat Boy to another…there’s a reason why your UNfavorables are 20 times your polling in some places. I appreciate a man of principles as much as anyone, but seriously? Dude. You’re already halfway to the core—at what point will you stop digging? China won’t be happy to see you when you come up in Tiananmen Square, I assure you.
—Best Answer to the Oddball Question—Chris Christie. Yes, he got the UFO question (and whined about it) but rallied well to say that it’s the job of the President to level with Americans about everything.
—Best Fight—toss-up between Pence vs V-Ram (“we’re in a dark moment”) and Pence vs Haley (abortion). Haley and V-Ram both cleaned Pence’s metaphorical clock, mainly because Pence is a traitorous Uniparty shill whose lack of a spine gave us Bidenomics—then had the temerity to try to take credit for the successes of Trump’s first term in his opening statement.
—Most Favored Target—the Department of Education. The general consensus is that it has to go.
—Biggest Winner on the Stage—V-Ram. He’s young, not a professional politician/Uniparty shill, and seemed unafraid to say what needs to be said. Unfortunately he spoke Truth To Power about the Climate Hoax and didn’t place Ukraine’s and Israel’s security over America’s, so now he’ll be destroyed by the Powers That Be. So much for thinking an “America First” agenda had any place on that stage!
—Biggest Winner Overall—Donald J. Trump. Let’s be real—the dwarfs would all have been like poor Tim Scott (basically left out in the cold) had The Man been there. Protest all they want, the MAGA base is behind their leader. The Uniparty scum and the Donor Class do NOT represent the American people, no matter how hard Fox tries.
—Best Bit of Humor About The Debate—MAGA PAC already had the “VP Debate” web page set up with all last night’s dwarfs there to be voted on. My one complaint?
There’s not a “NONE OF THE ABOVE” option!
Do yourself a favor—just watch Tucker & Trump and be done.
Whatever you do, DO NOT SHARE THIS! Someone might read it, and enjoy it, and you wouldn’t want that, now would you? Of course not! It’s not like it’s free, or anything. DO NOT FOLLOW @DocContrarian on X, GETTR, Gab and Truth Social. Don’t get my book Beyond MAGA. Don’t review it, and for the love of God don’t tell your friends about it.
I didn’t watch & certainly don’t want plan to. A loss that Larry Elder wasn’t included. Until Hutchinson inserted himself in the campaign 2024 I didn’t know he still existed. The other guy Liz mentioned... how on earth. A reader comment on Coffee/Covid caused chuckles.
Nikki ranting in what looked like a bathrobe...
all that was missing were hair rollers! 🤣
(My recollection but not verbatim).
My significant other really wanted to watch, so we did. It was fairly entertaining, but 10 months of this mudslinging will help Biden unfortunately. I thought the most heated exchange was between Vivek and Haley, and she came across as a hysterical screeching Karen. I'm biased though. There's a pretty good review on The Rubin Report Rumble channel, Dave Rubin, Michael Malice, Glenn Greenwald and Jordan Peterson. Also pissed that Larry Elder wasn't on stage but Asa Hutchinson and Doug Whatshisname were there?
