Late edit: I’ve been asked if there’s any proof MLK Jr. Was a Republican. Here’s my answer:

“Proof” as in a registration card, no. Dr. Alveda King has said repeatedly that he was, and I don’t see why she’d lie about it. Given the AL Democratic Party at the time it’s more likely than not. Unsurprisingly, the very notion is anathema to modern Leftists, who deny it vigorously. My own suspicion is that he would consider himself an independent, but probably registered in Alabama as a Republican for Reasons.

I doubt we’ll ever see absolute “proof”, but it does make for a great meme, doesn’t it?
